Hey man if your going to go through all that work, putting a v8 into a blazer, it would be a mistake not to go with a 350! and don't say fuel mileage, because your going to get the same no matter what engine you go with. Plus if you do find a 305 just switch out the block with a 350 and use the 305 heads and have a good high compression engine. Good luck with your search and have fun with it.

like the other guy said fuel  mileage will be the same, all small block chevys are the same physical size. 305's are not phisically smaller than a 350,  $800 is a ripoff for a 305.

I could not agree anymore! As for Ford225....I guess you havent worked with chevy engines before huh?   Anything from a 283 to a 400 are all exactly the same. All parts are interchangable except 400 heads( different coolant flow. ) If you come across a set of 56cc heads off of a 305 and put them on a 350, you can get fairly high compression( 10-11:1) which iis nice. And as we said before a 305 is not going to get any better milage( remember your going fuel injected! just keep your foot out of either engine and your going to get probably 18-20 MPG! ) $800? LOL dont do it he is trying to get you! Now $400-$500 is probably a good price for a used TPI 350. Good luck and git r done!
